New EP, "Sleepless Shadow." out Feb 21.
PLAIN AS GHOSTS draws on deep, personal experiences derived through love, loss and life. The intimate lyrics spark an outlook of hope and integrity which comes as a refreshing take on a genre typically fuelled by anger and aggression. The music is described as heavy and lyrically directed with hints of melodic ambience.
Formed in 2014, the Winnipeg-based alternative-rock band comprises of Trevor Lux (lead vocals/guitar), Adam Halstrom (bass/vocals), Rodrigo Ramirez (drums), and Daniel Friesen (vocals/guitar). They rehearse from Trevor’s home in Niverville – a rural community 30 km south of Winnipeg.
The band’s self-produced debut RENDERING released in 2016.
“PLAIN AS GHOSTS’ DEBUT ALBUM IS AN APPRECIATION OF LIFE’S SILENT MOMENTS– PERIODS THAT FOLLOW A LOSS OR LOVE AFFAIR. THE ALBUM PLAYS ON THE THEME OF PROCESSING EMOTIONS AND SENTIMENTS. THERE’S HARDLY A BETTER BAND TO DEPICT THIS THAN THE PRAIRIE ROCK BAND.” -TOBI NIFESI (THE MANITOBAN).
The album has since charted on campus radio, and earned the band opening spots for Pop Evil, Royal Tusk, and Tom Cochrane.
In 2018, RENDERING REMIXED takes the sound in an all-new direction, featuring remixes from Winnipeg-area artists and producers. The album is primarily electronic and spans the genre from “pop” to “weird”. Featuring remixes from Evan St. Cyr, Kakekaze, Vov Abraxas, and Mike K. Pascucci of Silence Kit.
