Tomahawk Love

Posted by Shane Macaulay on 2017/05/26

“Pure joy and raw energy” is how lead singer Jay McCurdy describes Tomahawk Love, and those elements are on full display on their rambunctious 2016 EP, Take The Bait, produced by James Robertson (Down With Webster, The Standstills). From soaring choruses to gritty guitar tones and thunderous drums, the band’s music is an intricate blend of punk rock roots, melodic lyrics and hooks to satisfy the soul.

For a band with only three years under their belt, the five Streetsville natives are moving at the only pace that suits them: like lightning. In 2015, the band had the honour of being finalists in 97.7 HTZ FM’s Rocksearch competition, along with being the only unsigned act on the Toronto leg of Riot Fest - a festival that sees an attendance of over 20,000 people - the same year. Never content to rest, the band is also keeping busy writing new material on a near-constant basis.

Unity is Tomahawk Love’s biggest strength, and it finds its true definition on the band’s real home: the stage. It’s there that the spirit of music and brotherhood combine for a resounding, frenetic performance that can only be defined as perfectly natural for five friends who love what they do.
