The Bleeding Lights

Posted by on 2013/11/22

Powerful, anthemic, and hard-hitting, THE BLEEDING LIGHTS are a new hard rock band quickly gaining the attention of fans of bands such as Alice In Chains, Tool, Filter and Soundgarden. Striking a balance between hard rocking and thought provoking, THE BLEEDING LIGHTS aim to connect with people’s hearts and minds.

Formed in early 2011, the band quickly went to work writing an...d demoing material at Cherry Beach studios in Toronto , and in July 2011 went into The Pocket Studios with producer Mike Turner (Crash Karma and ex-guitarist for Our Lady Peace) to begin work on their first album. Additional production was done in Melbourne, Australia by Mark Kelson at Kelsonic Studios. Mixing was handled by Mark Makoway (ex-guitarist for Moist) and Mastered by Pete Letros at Wreckhouse Mastering (Toronto).

THE BLEEDING LIGHTS are Owen Kelly (vocals) Brian Paul (guitars), Glenn Neath (drums), Nic Vurro (bass). All three latter band members are also founding members of TENTH PLANET. Prior to THE BLEEDING LIGHTS, TENTH PLANET have released three albums, including, most recently, “Everything is Never Over” in 2009. That album, produced by The Tea Party’s Jeff Martin and Mike Turner, and recorded in Ireland and Toronto, won “Rock Album of the Year” in 2010 by Europe’s Rock Tribune Magazine. “See Yourself”, the leadoff single from the album, spent 10 months on the IAC Charts, peaking at number #1 for six weeks and was semi-finalist for song of the year. TENTH PLANET was also named as a finalist for Tony Iommi’s Planet Rock Search for the song “Ariane”. As well, they were finalists for 97.7 Htzfm’s Rock Search. The band toured Europe three times, including dates in England, Germany and The Netherlands. They were International Song writing contest finalists twice, and were winners of Alternative Addiction’s “Next Level Contest”. Guitarist Brian Paul has also done some outside song writing, including co-writing the song “A Line in the Sand” on Jeff Martin’s album “The Armada” (2008). Owen Kelly’s previous band, VAULT, was featured on MTV’s “The Hills” and had a song on the soundtrack of “The Hills Have Eyes”.
