Alert the Medic

Posted by Shane Macaulay on 2017/06/13

This Halifax based, four piece rock band has been winning over audiences everywhere with their anthemic sound and high energy performances. Alert The Medic are Ryan MacDonald, vocals/guitar/piano; Troy Arseneault, guitar; Matt Campbell, bass; and Dale Wilson, drums. Alert The Medic represents the very definition of a truly independent artist, proving time and again that they are a force to be reckoned with. There’s no denying their high energy rock & roll makes them an explosive group – on disc or in concert!

2015 was an exciting year for Alert The Medic, kicked-off with a full house show at The Marquee in Halifax with veteran rockers Big Wreck and ending with a sold out NYE show at Casino New Brunswick with Our Lady Peace and I Mother Earth. In between was a cross Canada Tour; a showcase on the ECMA Rock stage in St. John’s, NL; and a performance in St. Pierre, FR with Finger Eleven and Crash Karma. “Hanna And The Ocean”, the third single from The Phantom Moves, rose to #2 on The Verge’s weekly countdown, The Grocery List, sandwiched between The Sam Roberts Band and The Fast Romantics and was selected for the #21 position of the SiriusXM Canadian Top 40 Songs of 2015. Their single “Echo and Fade” was featured during a Toronto Blue Jays “Russell Martin Bobblehead” promotion and their song “This Is Our Time” aired internationally on MLB Central’s Sportnet during the 2015 World Series.

The Phantom Moves is the group’s third full-length studio project and was recorded at The Pocket Studios in Toronto with Producer, Mike Turner, (co-founder/former guitarist of the multi-platinum band Our Lady Peace and current member of Crash Karma). The album received two 2014 Music Nova Scotia Award Nominations for Group Recording of the Year and Rock Recording of the Year. The first single from the album, Echo And Fade climbed the MediaBase charts all the way to #20 on the Canadian Active Rock and #30 on the Alternative Rock Charts and #29 on Iceberg Radio’s 2014 Top 40 Songs. The song made its debut south of the border when it was featured in a SiriusXM montage highlighting the 2014 NHL Plays of the Year which was broadcast live from Las Vegas on the NHL Network, CBC, NBCSN, and during last year’s NHL Awards. Their songs have been featured on and in SiriusXM Ultimate Replay segments and featured on Roger’s Sportsnet’s MLB Central throughout the entire 2014 Postseason and during the 2014 and 2015 World Series!

In 2013, the group performed to a National audience on CTV’s Marilyn Denis Show and their single, The Weatherman Pt. 2 was featured in an episode of Global TV’s hit police drama, Rookie Blue. Alert The Medic was named one of the Top 10 Indie Bands of 2012 by T-Mak World, Toronto’s Site for Music, Movies and Culture, and received an East Coast Music Award nomination for Fan Choice Entertainer of the Year in 2011.

The group’s sophomore album, We, the weapon, received critical acclaim and 2010 Music Nova Scotia Award Nominations for Group Recording of the Year and Pop/Rock Artist/Group Recording of the Year as well as 2010 East Coast Music Award Nominations for Rock Recording of the Year and Group Single of the Year for “Atlas“, the debut release from the album. “Atlas” achieved national rotation for over 14 weeks and cracked the Mediabase Top 50 Active Rock Canadian Charts.

We, the weapon was Alert The Medic’s follow up to their 2006 Self-Titled debut album. The first single off the Self-Titled project, “Reported Missing“, climbed to #1 on the East Coast Countdown radio show and gained the group national attention. The album garnered 2008 Award Nominations from both the East Coast Music Association and Music Nova Scotia, including the coveted Rising Star of the Year.
